Dragon’s Dogma 2 Launches March 22, 2024

The sequel to Capcom's big sword and sorcery game is coming soon.

Just before its planned showcase, Capcom revealed that Dragon’s Dogma 2 will release on March 22nd, 2024. The release date was posted earlier on the Dragon’s Dogma 2 Steam page. The game will be coming out for PS5, Xbox Series S/X and Steam as mentioned before. Dragon’s Dogma 2 is the sequel of the first game that came out in 2012.

Capcom had their showcase of Dragon's Dogma 2 with a release date trailer and gameplay footage. The footage introduced a new monster: Talos where the Arisen and allies are fighting. The story, quests, character creation for both the Arisen and main pawn were also covered in trailer.

A new vocation called Trickster was introduced. Trickster allows players to use a censor to conjure illusions. The Trickster class also takes advantage of enemies’ enhanced AI.

Here’s statement provide by Hideaki Itsuno, the game director:

“Dragon’s Dogma is a game that I dreamed of playing as a boy who loved TRPG-based games and action games, and I have a special attachment to it,” director Hideaki Itsuno said on PlayStation Blog. “Dragon’s Dogma II incorporates ideas that were not technically feasible at the time we created the first game. I believe this game will let you experience the fantasy world you’ve always dreamed of, a fantasy world action simulator game, and ultimately be the ultimate Dragon’s Dogma. The entire team is working hard on the final touches of the game. Whether you’ve played the first game or not, we hope you’ll enjoy your adventure in this open fantasy world.”

My Reaction

Dragon’s Dogma 2 is looking clean and fantastic. I liking the photo realism of the game. And the character models are looking good.

The combat seems fast, fluid and explosive. I say, explosive due to the quality and abundance of special effects. But the special effects are coming along. And I am digging what from what I am seeing with the combat.

The story has piqued my interest. I haven't play the first game so I'll going into this series blind. But all that is happening with the Arisen, the Main Pawn, the Arisen's heart being taken by the dragon, and the dragon itself.

I mean who doesn’t like dragons? Dragons are awesome! Anyway, I'll be picking this one up. I have Ryota Suzuki to thank for this. Although, he is not working on Dragon Dogma 2.

I am still picking up this game. After playing Final Fantasy XVI and Devil May Cry 5 which Suzuki served as the battle director for both games. I am hungry for Swords and Sorcery RPGs. And this one is right up my alley.
