Hamaguchi has been promoting Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade's arrival on Nintendo and Xbox. At the same time, he has also been sharing a lot of information on Part 3. The new goat of Square Enix has shared insights on the title, development, and possible multiplatform launch of the final chapter.

We’ll be diving deep into all of the tidbits that Hamaguchi has shared about the final chapter of the Remake series. I will also be sharing my insights and opinions on everything we have heard recently.

Part 3’s Title Locked

During an interview with Paris Games Week, Hamaguchi says they have narrowed down FF7R3’s title to two names. The final decision was left to Nomura. After returning from Paris Games Week, Nomura has chosen the name. It’s been locked down.

Going by the Kingdom Hearts titles, especially Remind, I feel he has chosen a title that has multiple meanings. At least, Nomura’s chosen title has dual meanings. Like many others, my money is on Reclaim. Return seems too simple and obvious, especially if Nomura has selected the title.

Here are the reasons why I like Reclaim. One, it sounds cooler than Return. Two, it has been mentioned by several characters in Rebirth. Cloud and Sephiroth have said reclaim whe comes Sephiroth’s plan to reclaim the world.

The Lifestream Sequence

There is one scene in Part 3 that Hamaguchi is looking forward to the most. That is the Lifestream sequence. For those who don’t know, this is where Cloud reclaims his identity with the help of Tifa.

The Lifestream sequence is one of the most important events in FFVII. Considering Cloud’s mental state after the final chapter of Rebirth, Cloud may be broken even more than he was in the original game. Cloud will have to overcome some hard truths and realities.

Hamaguchi declares that Creative Studio 1 has nailed this scene. I strongly believe that it is the case. They have been doing an exceptional job with the faithful parts of Remake. So, I believe Cloud will have a stronger comeback, which leave a huge impact on all of us.

Sticking with Unreal Engine 4

While Hamaguchi and devs considered moving the final part of Remake to Unreal Engine 5. Hamaguchi decided to stick with Unreal Engine 4. Why? Here are the reasons.

One, they wanted to get Part 3 out as soon as possible. Two, UE4 is making development much smoother with the team’s familiarity. Three, there are a lot of custom assets and builds within UE4 for the Remake Project.

From my limited knowledge of Unreal Engine 5, I have heard that upgrading to UE5 from UE4 is not always a smooth transition. I hear it’s even worse if you have any custom builds from UE4. The number of custom builds could affect the transition of UE4 to UE5.

Smooth Development

Hamaguchi believes that development for Part 3 is going smoothly. In addition to UE4, the development team has a set schedule for themselves. They are tracking on time with their set milestones.

Hamaguchi expressed that he’s thankful for the development. He has so much respect for them as they have worked on this project. Hamaguchi believes the game is playable now. They are now polishing the game so it’s at a quality that they want to deliver to players.

No Compromises on the Switch 2

Hamaguchi pledged that Rebirth and Part 3 won’t be compromised on Switch 2. In an interview with Nintendo UK, Hamaguchi reassured players that Rebirth and Part 3 are being worked on. Both games are being developed for other platforms in addition to the Switch 2.

Hamaguchi’s personal policy is not to make ports of his games for different hardware dramatically different from one another. The experience from PS5 should be the same as the one on a Switch 2. Of course, there will be some obvious visual compromises.

More News Than Ever Before

After Rebirth’s release trailer for Switch 2 and Xbox, Hamaguchi said there will be more news on FF7R3 than ever before.  Ever Before are the key words from Hamaguchi’s statement.

We all expected 2026 to be the year where Square Enix would start the marketing train for FF7R3. Hamaguchi’s statement seems to be a confirmation of the marketing train beginning. Maybe it’s the catalyst for the marketing train.
