Gen 10 is coming!

It's official! Pokémon Winds and Waves is real. The game was revealed as the final game of Pokémon Day.
While Gen 10 was expected to be announced during this year's Pokémon Day. It was a pleasant surprise to see the game's presentation. It’s a major glow-up from previous entries.
Of course, we'll be talking about the amazing quality of this game so far. And we'll be analyzing everything we know so far about Pokémon Winds and Waves. This includes the region, main characters, starters, and the purposes that Windychu and Waveychu serve.

Presentation
The game actually looks incredible so far. I’m actually impressed by the visuals. Game Freak took the criticisms about Scarlet and Violet to heart.
While Legends Z-A was an improvement in the visuals. Winds and Waves stands as a significant jump from the previous core games. These visuals are stunning.
New Region
While the region's name is unknown, Pokémon Winds and Waves will take place in a setting inspired by Indonesia and Southeast Asia. It’s a tropical archipelago consisting of jungles, resorts, lava-filled caves, and underwater terrain.
Underwater Exploration?
We may be able to explore the underwater. We don’t know of the method with Pokémon or other means. In Ruby and Sapphire, a Pokémon with the Dive ability could go underwater, and we could explore under the ocean.
If that’s the case, it will be awesome! Can you imagine doing that in a 3D Pokémon game? It’s exciting to think about!
Main Characters
The main characters’ appearances change depending on the version you have. For Winds, your MC will wear a white pilot hat, a white backpack, and a side pouch. For Waves, the hat is a blue baseball cap with gold symbols. The gold symbols represent a wave and a circle that could represent the sun.
Both MCs are carrying boards. The Poke Ball on each side changes color depending on which version you have. Blue is for Waves while white is for Winds. These boards serve as clues on how traversal may work in Pokémon Winds and Waves.

Starter Pokemon
We got to see the new starters in action. Seeing the starter Pokémon this way allows for stronger first impressions for each one. In addition to their appearances, I don’t know who I’m going to choose.
First is Browt, the Grass Starter. Browt looks like the Pokémon version of an Angry Bird. But the leaves on its brow do more than just give this Pokémon its comical, cute look. The leaves allow Browt to use photosynthesis. As a result, this Pokémon is energetic and clumsy. Browt is second on my list.
Second, we have Pombon, the cute puppy who is also the fire starter. Pombon has an area below its throat that glows faintly. There is a heat-generating organ in its lungs. Pombon is described as a friendly and innocent partner Pokémon.
Along with its cute appearance and friendly persona, I could foresee a lot of people choosing this Pokémon as their first. While it is last on my list, Pombon is steadily growing on me. It wouldn’t be the first time that I chose the cutest starter, as I chose Sprigatito for Violet.

Last, but not least, is Gecqua. This one is high on my list for my potential starter. One, Gecqua is a water gecko. Two, it looks as cool as it does cute. Third, Gecqua is described as a very intelligent and maneuvers shrewdly while putting on airs.
It makes me wonder how it uses the springy balls it creates from its tail. Look, I’m a sucker for the cool-looking starters. When I was a kid, I would always pick the fire starters. But ever since I picked Froakie, which evolves into Greninja. I have been branching out with the main games that came after Gen 6.
Gecqua is the coolest and cutest water starter. Thanks to its persona, I'm willing to bet its future evolutions will be Dark, Psychic, and Dragon. Also, I’m intrigued by what this Pokémon’s evolutions will be.
Windychu and WavyChu
These two Pikachu variants were introduced in the trailer. Right after the initial scene with the sketchbook that went through the previous generations of Pokémon. A Pikachu want outside, and was greeted by two older-looking Pikachu.
Windychu, judging by his outfit, is clearly for Winds. Wavychu, on the other hand, is clearly dressed for Waves. She even has her own baseball cap, which is similar to the MCs'. Windychu also has a white cap with sunglasses. He also had some silver jewelry on his tail. Wavychu has a blue ribbon on her tail.
At first, I thought they were Pikachu’s parents with the way they dressed. Now the Winds and Waves website tells us that they will be involved in our adventures. But we have to wait for future announcements.
I’m guessing they will be presented for whatever game you played. I could see Windychu being involved in Winds due to his name and appearance. If that’s the case, you count on Wavychu’s involvement in Waves.
Regardless, I feel like they are going hard with Pikachus. Considering Pikachu is the mascot of Pokémon. I don’t fault them for doing so. If anything, it’s a good marketing strategy. Plus, Pikachu was the star of the first part of the trailer.

Closing Thoughts
Unlike Scarlet and Violet, I’m honestly excited for Winds and Waves. I’m not completely sold on it yet. But I’m more invested in learning more about Winds and Waves. Much more.
I also loved the beginning of the reveal with the sketchbook. The artist within me just loved the way they transitioned from the grayscale 1st Gen sketch to this generation. Going through the previous generations with the colors tugged at my heartstrings. Personally, this was ingenious and nostalgic. A perfect way to start the trailer.
Finally, I think it’s also good that Game Freak is releasing this game in 2027. This gives Game Freak the extra time to cook these games properly. And we have seen it pay off with Legends Z-A. In the meantime, I can’t wait to find out more about this game.
