Various projects are in the works!
Final Fantasy IX’s 25th anniversary is coming on July 7th. Square Enix is planning various projects to celebrate this classic, beloved Final Fantasy. Some of these projects are collaborations and goods, such as a picture book featuring Vivi and his grandpa.
Square Enix has already kicked things off with a new website. There is also beautiful new artwork for the 25th anniversary. The artwork features Zidane, Dagger, and Vivi with Alexandria kingdom and the Prima Vista airship with the 25th anniversary font.
Is The Remake of FFIX Coming?
Square Enix made a similar celebratory post for Chrono Trigger’s 30th anniversary. Chrono Trigger also has various projects in the works. Whether this is a remake or not remains to be seen.
However, we do have evidence of a possible FFIX Remake thanks to Nvidia leak from a few years ago. Nearly all of the games from the giant leak have been released or they have been announced. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and Kingdom Hearts 4 was part of the leak.
Countless insiders have stated that the FFIX remake does exist. Many have also given updates on the rumored remake’s development. But nothing has been confirmed from Square Enix.
My Thoughts
I hoping that the FFXI remake is real. Also, I want to be believed that Square Enix is going to announced it soon. I also said this because of the timing of the big Nintendo Switch 2 Direct coming Wednesday.
It would be the perfect time for Square Enix to announce
the remake of FFIX if they wanted to. Since they want to go multiplatform with their games.
But I am keeping my expectations in check because me and a lot of hopeful fans could be wrong. Regardless, it’s great that Square Enix giving FFIX a lot of love. And they are planning a big celebration for this beloved, classic Final Fantasy.
